Privacy policy
Debt Tracker keeps everything on your phone. It has no account, no server, and doesn't hold the permission it would need to reach the internet — so it has no way to send your information anywhere, and nothing about you reaches the developer.
No internet permission
Android lists every permission an app holds. Debt Tracker's list doesn't include INTERNET, so the operating system won't let it open a network connection at all. You can see this for yourself: open Settings, go to Apps, pick Debt Tracker, and look under Permissions. An app that can't touch the network can't upload what you enter.
No account, no server
There's nothing to sign up for — no email, no password, no profile. The people you split with are names you type in, not accounts. Because there's no server behind the app, there's no copy of your data sitting somewhere else to leak, sell, or subpoena.
What the app stores, and where
The people you add, your transactions and how they were split, your groups, categories, comments, any receipt photos you attach, and your settings are saved in a database on your device. That database stays in the app's private storage. It isn't shared with other apps and it isn't sent off the phone.
Backups you control
Automatic backups write to a folder you choose through Android's own document picker. They belong to you: they survive uninstalling the app and moving to a new phone, and you can open, copy, or delete them like any other file. If the folder you pick happens to be inside a cloud-synced directory, that sync is yours and under your control — the app itself never uploads a backup.
Permissions the app may ask for
- Photos / media — only if you attach a receipt image to a transaction, and only for the image you pick.
- Notifications — only if you turn on reminders for recurring charges.
- Storage / a folder — the folder you grant for backups, through the system picker.
Each one is optional and tied to a feature you chose to use. There is no location, contacts, microphone, or advertising access, because the app has no use for them.
No analytics, no ads, no tracking
Debt Tracker contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers or SDKs that report usage. Nobody is measuring how you use it, because there's no channel for that measurement to travel down.
Open source
Debt Tracker is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0, and the source is available. That's what makes the claims on this page checkable rather than promises — the code that runs on your phone is the code you can read.
Children
The app is a plain expense tracker suitable for general audiences. It collects nothing, so it collects nothing from children either.

Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated date at the top will change with it. Since the app collects nothing and sends nothing, any change is far more likely to be a clarification than a new practice.
